You Cannot hear with Your Mouth Open

What do you do with anger, pressure, and the temptation to lose control when life is hard? In this message from our ongoing study through the book of James, we walk verse by verse through James 1:19-21 and discover three movements: the proclamation (be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to get angry), the declaration (human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires), and the application (lay aside what hinders you and receive the word God has planted in your heart).

Along the way, we unpack what it means to be "born again" into the same spiritual family, why listening is the one thing James tells us to be fast at, and how the unbridled anger of our flesh and the holiness of God simply cannot mix, like oil and water in a bottle. You will be challenged with this truth: we are not saved only to go to heaven someday. We are saved to live for him now, and as we are transformed, our community is transformed too.
